HMS Update

#12: January 23, 2026

Dear HMS parents, guardians, and caregivers,

January has included a number of learning activities outside of the classroom.  Our sixth grade students enjoyed our annual YEF-supported Starry Night event, and pictured here is a group of students waving glow sticks. Students in grades 7 and 8 were invited to participate in our Poetry Kabaam, an event that encourages students to read and share original poems.

Our next HMS Update will be shared on February 6, 2026. Please be in touch with any questions. Thank you for your partnership!

With Gratitude,

Mandy Lewis and Tom McDowell, HMS Administrative Team

HMS Drama - Information

HMS students had a chance to meet Hollie McLachlan and hear about our upcoming rehearsal schedule for "The Day the Internet Died."  For students who were unable to attend the informational meeting, the materials shared are linked below.  Hollie's email is: mclachlancastle@gmail.com in case your student or family have any questions.

Attendance for Extracurricular Activities

We are sharing a quick reminder that in order for students to participate in extracurricular activities before or after school, they must be present in school that day.  For example, a student must be in attendance during the school day in order to attend Robotics after school. This also applies for HMS athletics.  If you have any questions about attendance, please call our Main Office at 207-846-2499.
