W.H. Rowe School Family Update

2025 Welcome to the Rowe School Year!

August 15, 2025

Dear Rowe Families,

Welcome to the new school year! Our school is sparkling, our playgrounds are ready for play, and our staff is so excited to welcome your children on their first day of school. We hope you have been able to enjoy a wonderful summer with your family. It is always such a pleasure to see how much they have grown in just a couple of months and to hear about their summer adventures.

You will find quite a bit of information in this initial family update in an effort to help you and your family feel most prepared to kick off the school year feeling prepared and confident! The Yarmouth School Department Website is also a very helpful place to find general information, as well as the Rowe Family Handbook. Please be sure to reach out to us directly at any point if you have questions about anything.

We are so excited to get to know your family and to partner with you all in your child's educational journey! See you all soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rogers

Rowe Principal

A Welcome to Our Learners!

From, Mrs. Rogers

I'm sure there are some exciting and anxious feelings about our upcoming school year! I have attached a video below so children can enjoy a book with Mrs. Rogers and think about the school year and their feelings about it in a fun way.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Arrival

The first days of school are so exciting and special, especially for our learners who are coming to school for the very first time, or joining us as new students! The following guidelines are to ensure all of our learners have a positive and safe transition into the building, especially on the first days of school.

  • Bus route schedules will be coming out shortly and will be posted on our website. If your child rides the bus, please have your child at their stop 10 minutes before the scheduled time. The first days of school are very busy for families and our drivers, so we appreciate your patience and flexibility while our buses settle into their routes.

  • Family Drop-Off ~ All children arriving to school by family drop-off will need to stay in their vehicles until 8:25. We will not have supervision for children prior to this time. If you see a staff member outside prior to this time supporting children, it is due to a bus needing to arrive earlier. In this circumstance, we have made supervision arrangements for children from that bus only. If you plan to bring your child to school, there are two ways to drop off your child. We encourage you to use the drop-off loop that goes around the building (past the tennis courts, just after the ball field on the right) as it keeps things running smoothly and reduces the number of people in front of our school. This loop is indicated on the map below. The “car line” is located next to the parking lot, which you enter by bearing left rather than going straight into the lot once you come all the way around the building. Staff will be outside directing you accordingly for the first few weeks of school and will be ready to welcome your child, especially if a quick “goodbye” is tricky on the first days! Please do not use the loop in front of the school as this is reserved for buses only.

Dismissal

Afternoon dismissal begins at 3:25 and ends at 3:40.

If you are picking your child up from school:

As outlined for arrival, you will enter the family pick-up line via the road that runs by the tennis courts. You will pull all the way around the access road around the building and enter the car line located text to the parking lot, nearest to the school. You will need to present your pick-up pass to the adult on duty. An adult on duty will need to see it in order to verify who you are picking up and that the appropriate permissions are in place. Your child will be entered into our system to be dismissed, they will be escorted to your vehicle, and you will be on your way. If the pick-up loop is full, please pull along slowly and wait in your car. Please do not enter the bus loop in front of the school for any reason. This is for bus access only.

Pick Up Passes

Two pick-up passes will be issued for each child. If you need additional passes for your family, please reach out to Miriam Epstein in our main office.

Pre-K and Kindergarten Welcome Days

If you have not already heard from your child's teacher, you will be soon! September 2 and 3 are schedule as Welcome Days for Pre-K and Kindergarten learners and their families. Your child's teacher will provide options for appointments where you and your child can visit their new classroom and meet their new teacher! During this appointment, the teacher will engage your child in a few activities to get to know them better before they come for their first day of school.

First Grade Meet and Greet

If you have not already heard from your child's first grade teacher, you will be soon! On Thursday, August 28, you and your child can visit Rowe between 9:30 and 9:45 to visit their new classroom and to meet their new teacher! We will also have a welcome table set up at the front of the school to welcome new-to-Rowe families and answer any additional questions you may have.

Attendance Matters!

We hope to see every student at school every day! We are very aware and respect that there are unavoidable reasons learners have to be absent from school, and we hope you can join us in protecting each day of learning to the best possible extent. If there are ever reasons that make it difficult to get your child to school, please do not hesitate to reach out to our School Counselor, Kristin Dunn (Kristin_Dunn@yarmouthschools.org). We look forward to supporting any reduction in barriers to any child participating in consistent full days of school that we can.

If your child must be absent from school due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances, please be sure to notify Miriam or Amanda in the main office as soon as possible. If you are aware of an upcoming absence, please complete the PLANNED FAMILY ABSENCE FORM as soon as you are aware of the absence.

From the Yarmouth PTO

Yarmouth PTO 2025-2026

As our students prepare to board buses and hop on bikes, we're busy gearing up for another exciting year of PTO programming. Are you curious about the Yarmouth PTO? Here's a quick overview of what we do:

Our mission is to support and enhance the school experience for students, families, and teachers by providing financial and educational support for quality programming and enrichment. That means we wear a lot of hats—often we’re fundraising, organizing events like the Glow Run to help raise money for things like field trips (such as the 5th grade trip to Boston!), author visits, and supplemental supplies.

Other times, we’re FUNraising, building a strong sense of community by connecting parents, teachers, and students through exciting and meaningful activities like Make-It Take-It, the Ice Cream Social, welcome playdates, and more.

All of this work is done entirely by volunteers who collaborate with school administrators and community members to make the Yarmouth school community a welcoming, joyful place to learn and grow. On average, the PTO spends $50 per student throughout the course of the year. Will you help kick off the year with a donation to the PTO? Thank you!

Welcome Playdates

The Yarmouth PTO Welcome Committee is excited to host pop-up playdates for Grades Pre-K through 2! These casual gatherings will give incoming students a chance to meet some of their future classmates and make new friends before the school year begins.

Rowe School Playgrounds:

Wednesday, 8/27 3:00-4:30 Grade 1 play date

Thursday, 8/28 3:00-4:30 PreK and K play date

YES Playground:

Wednesday, 8/27 3:00-4:30 Grade 2 play date

First PTO Meeting of the Year

Please join us for our first PTO meeting of the year on Thursday, September 18th at 7pm in the YES library. Our meetings are open to everyone and we encourage you to attend. We look forward to seeing you!

PTO Gather & Greet

The Yarmouth PTO would like to trial hosting an informal, regularly-scheduled drop-in coffee hour (Gather & Greet) at a local cafe for parents and community members hoping to learn more about the organization. (It's also a nice opportunity just to chat with other parents!) We're targeting Wednesdays after drop-off (9 am) or lunchtime (noon) and are seeking input about which time would be preferable. Please let us know which might work better for you here.

Thanks for all of your support of the PTO! We're looking forward to a great year, and we hope you enjoy these last couple weeks of summer!
