W.H. Rowe School Family Update

June Rowe Family Update

Friday, May 30, 2025

From the Principal

Good Afternoon, Rowe Families!

It is hard to believe that I am already sending out the June family update for the 2024-2025 school year. What an amazing year it has been! While it feels like this year has flown by in many ways, I know the great impact of the learning that has occurred will last for years to come. We couldn't be more proud of our young learners and all the times they have demonstrated determination, grit, perseverance, empathy, and kindness. We can't thank you all enough for all the times you have shown up, supported, collaborated, advocated, and trusted. We value our partnership with you all at the highest level and look forward to that continued work together in the years to come. Such strong partnerships result in even greater positive outcomes for children, and we are so grateful for all you do to support this most amazing work we are so lucky to be a part of.

As we creep ahead to the final days of school, I have just a few updates for you all:

Step-Up Day

On June 12, all current Rowe students will participate in an activity where they will be able to "step-up" to the next grade level, meet their teacher for next school year, and have the opportunity to interact with some of their new classmates.

Class Placement

Class placement letters will be sent home at the end of the day on June 12, Step-Up Day. It is important to note that the process to create class cohorts for the upcoming school year is extensive and thorough. Our main goals in this process are to ensure the classrooms across each grade are balanced and that each student has positive learning connections (which may be different than positive social connections) in their classroom. We appreciate your support in framing the next school year in your conversations with your child in a positive light, even though they may not have been placed with a specific friend they were hoping to have in their class next year. We look forward to seeing all the amazing things they achieve next year!

Learning Profiles

Learning profiles for the second half of the school year will be available for you to view on June 12 through the Powerschool Portal. Information regarding how to log in and access the report will come home with your child's class placement letter.

2025-2026 School Calendar

Dr. Dolloff sent out the school calendar for the 2025-2026 school year upon approval, however, we have had some questions about different dates. I am linking it HERE for quick reference, however, it can also be found on the Yarmouth School Department website.

Chewonki Visits Rowe School!

Kindergarten scientists have been busy learning about different animal adaptations. To support this learning, Chewonki visited Rowe School with a presentation on various adaptations. Pictured here, you can see kinder learners checking out the teeth on a coyote skull. They are learning about the adaptations associated with animals that are carnivores versus herbivores.

Another Successful Rowe Show!

Our first grade musicians put on a fantastic Rowe Show earlier this month! It was a beautiful showcase of their music learning and talents. A special THANK YOU to Mrs. Kenlan for all her efforts in helping our first-graders be so well-prepared for this incredible event!
