From the Principal!

Happy {almost} November, Rowe Families!

The first two months of this school year have certainly flown by! Thank you for all you have already done to partner with us in ensuring your children have a wonderful school year. It is so hard to believe we are already conducting our fall conferences and celebrating your children's transitions into the school year with you. We are excited about all the awesome learning to come and appreciate you being on this journey with us!

Just a few notes and celebrations as we head into November!

Captain's Crew!

Our first grade leadership initiative: Captain's Crew will be starting up next week! Throughout the remainder of this fall, all first graders will participate in a leadership lunch with Mrs. Dunn and I, where we start talking about what leaders do to make a positive impact in their communities. This provides a great structure for early spring when first graders engage in Captain's Crew projects that they will design to make their school, community, and/or world a better place! Stay tuned for all the great things to come from our first grade leaders!

Project Holiday 2025

If you or someone you know is in need of assistance this upcoming holiday season, the Project Holiday committee has shared its 2025 APPLICATION FORM(link). Hard copies of the form can also be found at the Yarmouth Community Food Pantry and at Yarmouth Community Services. Completed forms are due by the end of the day, Wednesday, November 7, at Yarmouth Community Services. If you have any questions, please direct them to ph@ycan.info.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found station is already overflowing! If your child is missing a sweatshirt, jacket, waterbottle, etc - we may have it here! Please come take a look!

Kindergarten Visited Hansel's Orchard!

Our kindergarten learners visited Hansel's Apple Orchard this month! During their visit, they learned more about the life cycle of apples as part of their life cycles science unit. A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful PTO for supporting enrichment opportunities, such as this, for our learners!

fire safety

Fire Safety Week!

We are so grateful for another partnership with the Yarmouth Fire Department. Some amazing fire fighters brought an ambulance and a fire truck to Rowe School so students could learn about the features of the emergency vehicles. Students also learned about the safety gear fire fighters wear to keep them safe while they are keeping others safe. Staff from the fire department also hosted our first graders at the fire station, so they could learn more about what their work looks like at the fire house!

Bus Safety Week!

Bus Safety Week was October 20-24! As part of this week, we celebrated our bus drivers, and students at Rowe participated in a bus evacuation drill. Be sure to ask them about ways they stay safe on the bus!

If you and your child are interested in engaging a bit more in promoting bus safety, HERE is a flier for a National Bus Safety Poster Contest!

Rowe Playground Transition Update

It's certainly been an exciting month watching the evolution of part of our play space. The natural playground components have been removed, and the grading has been finished. Students have been excited to see the different equipment and community helpers working hard to make space for our future playground features!

In the meantime, we have had to be creative with our outdoor play spaces to ensure there continues to be enough room and options for children to make use of during their recess times. As them about how the play space has changed recently!

Update from the Health Clinic

Cold and Flu season is among us! As a reminder from the health office, please keep your child home for 24 hours from any fever, vomiting or diarrhea to help reduce the spread of infection. It is also a good idea to keep your child home if they are having a severe, nonstop cough as this is a significant disruption to the student's learning so will likely end up with a call home for pick up. If your child has a fever above 100.4 for over 3 days, it is recommended to reach out to their primary care provider for further guidance. Please don't hesitate to reach out to the Rowe school nurse, Pamela Christensen, with any questions or if your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness.

Points With the Principal

This month, we discussed social-learning and discipline practices at Rowe. Some key points and takeaways from this session were:

  • The developmental cognitive, social, and communication progression of children ages 4-7 (Resource: Yardsticks)

  • Social-emotional learning occurs across all settings at school. Some structures currently in place to support this growth are: Morning Meeting, Community Meeting, SEL lessons with Mrs. Dunn, Closing Meetings

  • Our new SEL curriculum is Character Strong. You can read more about it HERE.

  • The differences between "discipline" and "punishment" and the Rowe School's commitment to help all students learn and grow from their mistakes.

  • Maladaptive behaviors often stem from a lack of skills related to social interaction, emotional regulation, and "typical" developmental skills of this age group.

Thank you to all participants who joined us and engaged in a great conversation! Your contributions and questions lifted the learning and experience for all of us!

Our next session in this series will be held on Monday, December 8 from 8:40-9:40 in the Rowe Library. This session will focus on Systems of Support and Special Education. You can register HERE if you are interested in joining us!

Future topics, dates/times, and links to RSVP can be found on THIS DOCUMENT. We hope you might be able to join us!

Happy Halloween from the PTO! With fall in full swing, we’re looking forward to a festive and fulfilling stretch of the year. We hope to see you at an event soon!

Staff Appreciation

We are extremely fortunate to have wonderful staff at our schools working hard every day for our kids. To show our immense gratitude, we're preparing to celebrate Fall Staff Appreciation Day at Rowe on November 7th, when we'll host a lunch for the staff with help from the community.

If you are able to bring in a homemade or store-bought item to donate, please click here to sign up.

We know there are many ways to show appreciation for our teachers and staff, and we encourage you to make our teachers feel the love on November 7th, however you can!

If a financial contribution makes sense for your family, please consider clicking here to donate. Direct donations are always appreciated and are crucial in funding PTO programming.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at yarmouthpto04096@gmail.com

Thank you for your support!

2025-2026 Directory Now Available!

Membership Toolkit has been updated with directory information of Pre-K through 8th Grade families who have opted in to participate in the Yarmouth PTO Directory. If you have opted in, please check your information, as this is what will be included in the printed booklet.

You can access the directory information in one of three ways:

1) Online through Membership Toolkit. Use the same email address you provided to PowerSchool to create or log into your account.

2) On your Apple or Google phone or device through the Membership Toolkit app (respective app stores linked). You can log in once you have created an account.

3) Order a printed booklet to have on hand for $10 each here. Orders for printed booklets are due by November 20, 2025. We will only have one print run this year, so please plan accordingly.

Have a question? See the FAQ sheet here.

Make-It Take-It Save the Date

We are so excited to announce that the beloved annual Make It & Take It craft event and Bake Sale will be happening this year on Sunday, December 7th from 11 am to 2 pm in the cafe at YES!

The PTO is looking for volunteers to lead and help at craft tables. We need many volunteers to make this fun event happen. We welcome folks who want to lead a table with a buddy, with their kiddos as helpers, high school volunteers, and/or grandparents.

Sign up to volunteer here

Images of available crafts here

And a quick reminder that for this event and all others, you must fill out this quick Yarmouth School District Form EVERY YEAR to volunteer.

Come out and craft with us! The final products make wonderful gifts for family and loved ones, and the event is so much fun!

November PTO Meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 20th at 7 PM in the YES library. Our meetings are open to everyone and we encourage you to attend. We hope to see you there!

PTO Gather & Greet

Join us on Tuesday, November 4th for our monthly casual coffee hour at Fox & the Fiddle (inside 317 Main) any time after 8:45 am. If you're hoping to learn more about the organization or would just like to chat with some other parents and community members, we hope you'll join us. Drop in, grab a coffee from the cafe, and pull up a chair!

Gather & Greet will be a recurring event on the first Tuesday of each month, so even if you can't make it this month, there will be another opportunity in December.

'Tis (almost) the season

If your family typically sends out holiday cards, we have exciting news to share! We are partnering with Minted this year to offer you a discount on your annual cards while also raising money for the PTO-- a win-win!

Here's how it works: Use the promo code FUNDRAISEYARMOUTH at checkout and receive a 20% discount on your order. Minted will then donate 10% of the sales earned using the code back to us!

Please feel free to share the code with friends and family to help us raise even more. The promo code will also remain active year-round, so you can use it for weddings, birth announcements, and so much more while continuing to support the PTO.

Our code is specific to our organization, and we ask that you please don’t use coupon sites like Honey or RetailMeNot to share it, as that could affect our donations.

We hope you're as excited about this new opportunity as we are! Our personal favorite Minted feature is that it can even address all of your envelopes for you -- a valuable time-saver during an extremely busy season!

Thanks, as always, for all of your support!

Volunteer Information

Two forms!

If you'd like to volunteer with the PTO this year, please make sure to fill out the Yarmouth School District's 2025-2026 volunteer form. This must be completed every year.

If you haven't already filled out the PTO-specific volunteer interest form, we'd love to hear from you! This form is for our reference in coordinating volunteers, but you will not be able to volunteer with the PTO until you've submitted the mandatory YSD form linked above.

Glow Run Volunteers Needed

Are you interested in serving on the committee for the Glow Run this year?

If so, please fill out the PTO volunteer interest form above or send us a note at yarmouthpto04096@gmail.com. This is our biggest fundraiser and it requires many hands to make it a success. It's also super fun-- join us!
